Khepri was associated with the scarab or dung beetle, making him one of the most famous insect gods. The Egyptians watched the scarab beetle rolling dung into a ball and pushing it along the ground to its burrow. The Egyptians made a connection between the movement of the sun across the sky and the movement of the ball of dung pushed by the beetle. The solar connection was enhanced by the fact that the scarab has antenna on its head and when the scarab pushed a ball of dung along the ground, the ball would sit between the antenna in a way that was reminiscent of the solar disc flanked by a pair of horns which was worn by many deities.
Perfume, sweat, skin and hair products can all react with silver causing it to tarnish, cause vermeil to erode and even damage stones – especially pearls. Always apply your products before putting on your jewellery and leave for a few minutes to be absorbed by the skin. Avoid spraying perfume or hairspray directly onto your jewellery as this can damage it.
Our vermeil is a layer of fine 24ct gold, plated on top of silver. As this is just a layer it can gradually wear, giving the appearance that it has faded. Every day wear may speed up this process, especially on items like rings and bracelets which have lots of contact knocking against objects. We offer a re-plating service for our vermeil jewellery.
Each piece is unique and might vary slightly from portrayed images.
